Hay fever
Hay fever (allergic rhinitis) is a condition with similar signs and symptoms to a common cold, including sneezing, congestion, runny nose, and sinus pressures. Hay fever results from an allergic response to airborne substances, such as pollen, whereas a cold is caused by a virus. Often, medical treatment is not required for people suffering from mild hay fever. However, if the symptoms get severe enough that they start interfering with the person’s daily life, medical treatment should be definitely sought.
Symptoms: Hay fever symptoms may show at different times of the year, depending on what the patient is allergic to. The common, less severe symptoms include sneezing, watery eyes, itchy throat, itchy/runny nose. The more severe symptoms are headaches, sweats, loss of smell and taste, facial pain, and itchiness that spreads from the throat to the nose and ears.
